Using Technology in School
At UBHS, we recognise the many benefits that developments in technology can bring to both school and home life. In school, we use a range of digital tools including reading devices, specialist software and artificial intelligence applications to support high-quality teaching and learning.
However, we are also mindful that technology can sometimes have a negative impact on young people, particularly when it becomes a distraction to learning or affects wellbeing. For this reason, we continue to work closely with parents and carers to ensure that technology is used positively and responsibly.
We would like to thank all parents and carers for supporting our home-school agreement, particularly in relation to the use of mobile phones in school.
You may have seen recent national discussions regarding mobile phone use in schools, including concerns about distractions to learning and the impact that social media can have on young people’s mental health and wellbeing. We are pleased to say that mobile phones do not present a significant issue at UBHS. This is due to the strong support we receive from parents and carers, alongside the consistent approach taken by staff in following our school policies and procedures. Learners fully understand that they cannot use their mobile phone within the school grounds (inside the green gated areas).
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all members of our school community for your continued support. It is greatly appreciated and plays an important role in maintaining the positive learning environment we value at UBHS.
