At UBHS we offer the very best careers’ provision and hold 100% in the Gatsby Benchmarks (only 17% of schools have this nationally). 

We have achieved excellent GCSE outcomes over the years and this is built on the foundations of academic success through our broad, rich and creative curriculum. We are a school that offers so much more than academia to our learners. We support our young people to develop essential skills, broaden their knowledge and improve their understanding, all of which prepares them for their educational journey beyond our school gates, as well as the career ahead of them. 

Our careers’ team regularly monitors the employment and skills gaps in industry (those identified in the UK labour market) and we work hard to develop specific skills in school that will benefit learners in their future, and in many cases, plug the gaps in key sectors. 

Our Careers Adviser meets with learners on a one-to-one basis to identify and map their individual career journeys which helps to lead to future employment. This is in addition to the careers’ development we deliver via our creative curriculum; essential employability skills in lessons, Skills Builder programme during tutor time, scheduled mock interviews, work experience placements, our partnership work with higher education and employers, and much more. 

We are extremely proud to say we are a leading school for our excellent careers’ provision where we have 0% NEET (not in education, employment or training). This means 100% of learners successfully secured their next step destination (college, sixth form, training or work) and nationally this figure is around 5%. The Quality in Careers Standard mark we hold also reflects the fantastic work we do to support our learners and help them to become successful in their future careers.
