Mastering the art of revision
Learning how best to revise and develop knowledge for long-term memory is not an easy task to master. Luckily at UBHS we have expert teachers who are masters of revision techniques and can help learners with their preparation for GCSE examinations.
Last week, Year 11 learners and parents/carers attended the ‘Mastery of Revision’ evening to help them understand a range of revision strategies to suit a variety of learning needs and styles.
Mr Parkin (Assistant Headteacher for Teaching and Learning) organised the revision evening, which was complemented by English, Maths and Science presentations delivered by curriculum leads. Resources and revision guides were also made available to learners by all other subject leaders.
Individual subject leads are now also running revision and intervention sessions before or after school to further support learners. This helps to address and clarify any misconceptions they may have as well as adding additional stretch and challenge to help boost progress.
We know that Year 11 can be a testing time, but we’re here to support each and every one of our learners in any way we can to aid their learning and boost their confidence so they’re in the best possible position for their examinations.
