Developing leadership at all levels
In school this week our focus is the development of leadership skills at all levels. We encourage learners to be independent and take responsibility for their own learning and development. Our school values of Believe, Achieve and Succeed empower learners to self-develop and encourage them to portray the best version of themselves at all times.
Through our Skills Builder programme of study we challenge learners to think critically, be flexible by adapting to change, and develop resilience in their leadership approach. We all know that leadership is about commitment, hard work, dedication and developing that ‘can do’ attitude even when we are faced with the most challenging of circumstances.
These are skills and attributes that are demonstrated daily by learners in lessons and are complemented by a range of activities, outside the classroom, that learners take part in, including;
Supporting with breakfast club
Sports captains and leaders
School Council strategy meetings
Head learner elections
Work placements
Leading assemblies
Participating in the Interact Club
Facilitating staff interviews – learner panel
Mental Health Mentors
Participating in debating competitions
Classroom Monitors
Reception apprentices
