A Terrific 2024
It’s been a truly terrific 2024! We celebrated amazing GCSE outcomes in the summer, had a very successful Ofsted Inspection during June, had absolutely brilliant school attendance (significantly better than National Average) throughout the year, and we have also seen some fantastic achievements from learners and colleagues across our school.
Some highlights of the year include; achieving Eco Schools Awards, refurbished our amazing Food Technology room, gaining numerous Sports Awards, being recognised for our brilliant work on Skills Builder (part of our Careers’ education), achieving fantastic results with Bedrock (reading programme) and MathSparx (Maths platform), lots of educational visits, and much more.
We end 2024 with our annual rewards assemblies for each year group, with many learners receiving awards for making exceptional progress, having brilliant attendance and/or gaining excellent attainment.
To finish the year, learners raised over £750 and also donated food items to Batley Food Bank as well as delivering Christmas hampers to some of our local families courtesy of Batley Bulldogs. Year 8 learners also supported Mrs Halliday and Mrs Dent selling festive items including honey and candles at Heeley’s Christmas Market in Batley. All ingredients for these items came from our school bees. We received some fantastic feedback from local shoppers who said; “The learners were super passionate about their products, telling us all about how they made them and how they really enjoyed doing so. UBHS should be extremely proud of those boys, who really were a credit to the school and their parents.”
Reminder: school finishes at 12.45pm on Friday 20 December. I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a restful winter break and the very best for the new year ahead.
We have a slightly later start for learners on the first day back. Our first day back is Monday 6 January and learners are expected to be in school and ready to learn by 9.30am.
