Supporting our learners' wellbeing and success
At Upper Batley, the health and wellbeing of our learners are at the heart of everything we do. Our dedicated staff work tirelessly to ensure that every learner receives the support, care, and guidance they need to succeed. We are fortunate to have outstanding facilities that enable us to deliver a high-quality, creative curriculum tailored to our learners' specific needs.
From our Forest School, Barnyard, onsite gym, school therapy dog, and horticulture area, we provide unique opportunities to help learners build resilience and take care of their mental health. We understand that exams, coursework, and assessments can sometimes feel overwhelming, which is why we equip our learners with coping strategies and ensure they know where to seek support when needed.
Our exceptional Pastoral team, strong SEND provision, and dedicated school counsellor work closely with learners to create a safe and supportive environment. Having someone to talk to and knowing that help is available can make all the difference.
To achieve academic success, learners need more than just knowledge—they need a strong work ethic, determination, and, most importantly, a healthy mind. Our curriculum is carefully designed to develop core skills that support mental resilience. Across various subjects, we embed activities that prepare learners for challenges both in school and beyond. Whether it’s problem-solving in Maths, developing resilience in Forest School, or fostering empathy in the Barnyard, every experience helps shape well-rounded, confident individuals.
At Upper Batley, we are committed to nurturing not just academic excellence but also the wellbeing of every learner. Our brilliant work on wellbeing is seen as best practice and we are proud to say that we have Gold status from the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools.
