    Order, Order

1 November 2021 (by Dominic Wroe (dwroe))

Our Chair of Governors and I attended a community event that had a huge focus on civility in public life and the guest speaker was John Bercow. Mr Bercow was the Speaker of the House of Commons from 2009 to 2019, and he came to Cleckheaton to support Batley & Spen MP, Kim Leadbeater. Kim outlined her vision for working effectively with her constituency, with everyone who lives and works across Batley & Spen. John Bercow gave a very entertaining speech, which included many really key points about being the best version of yourself whoever you are, and whatever role you have. That's the mantra we have at UBHS- every adult and every young person should be the best version of themselves each and every day. John was delighted to be back in Yorkshire, a place where his grandmother had lived. So many great people have lived or worked in our wonderful region, and in our school careers education is key as we encourage every young person to work hard now to secure their future dream job. As the great philosopher Aristotle once said "If you choose a job that you love, you never have to work a day in your life!"
