    More In Common

18 October 2021 (by Dominic Wroe (dwroe))

This week has been a wonderful week at Upper Batley High School with more superb sporting victories for our footballers, a visit from our MP Kim Leadbeater who commented on how truly fantastic our school is, two wonderful parents' evening events with our school hall absolutely full of fabulous families, and then all our year 7 learners learning how to Restart your Heart. We were thrilled when Her Majesty’s Vice Lord-Lieutenant, Tim Hare also visited us on Friday. Wow- what a week.
On Friday the week was then touched with deep sadness when Sir David Amess MP was tragically murdered in his constituency. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his team, his constituency and all those brave people who assisted at the scene. It is five years since our own MP Jo Cox was tragically killed, and we still feel that sadness and loss now. We have worked hard as a community to show that we all have far more in common, and we will rise above fear, and hatred to make our communities and our world a safer place. We will continue this work each and every day in all that we do, and ensure we are all the very best versions of ourselves.
