Artists in Residence
11 October 2021 (by Dominic Wroe (dwroe))
UBHS was delighted to see our learners' artwork on display and being celebrated at Batley Train Station this week. A group of our talented year 8 artists, and their amazing teacher Mr Nial Sherrard, worked with local professional artist Emmeline North as part of her "Joy Project". The team created 26 individual, bespoke window and door panels to brighten up the train station building, and share the story of Batleys rich and diverse heritage. This artwork marks the start of the trail- a network of artwork, murals and an app that tells the story of Batley, our town and our heritage. UBHS learners were very proud to outline the story of their art work to our MP Kim Leadbeater, local councillors and everyone who attended the grand opening event.
Please pop in to the train station to see the artwork at the start of the exciting new trail. Further artworks will be unveiled across our area over the coming months. As we always say at UBHS; Batley is all about beds, biscuits and brilliant education!
