Keeping our children and community safe

We would like to kindly remind parents/carers to take extra care when picking up and dropping off their child. If parents/carers park down one side of Batley Field Hill and York Road, this ensures all children are safe and traffic can keep flowing on the roads. We have noticed a number of cars have been blocking residents' driveways, which is unacceptable, as well as parking on pavements, which then forces children to walk into the road to get around parked cars, and this is not safe.

This week one of our learners was injured while crossing the road when they were hit by a vehicle. Luckily, their injuries were not serious, but it could have been a lot worse. Please encourage your child to use the crossing near school or at the bottom of the hill. The last thing staff want to have to do is call parents/carers to let them know their child has been hit by a car, or even worse, that an ambulance has had to be called.

Where possible please encourage your children to walk to and from school, or meet your child at one of the local supermarket car parks just off Bradford Road, or at a less busy street near school. A number of local residents have recently complained about poor parking and school staff  witness this also, on a daily basis. Local traffic police will be doing their rounds over the next few weeks, and we hope to avoid any of our parents/carers receiving unnecessary fines.

Together let’s keep all our children safe and support our local residents and community. Thank you for your support with this.
