Believe - Achieve - Succeed

Developing learner confidence

At Upper Batley High School, we know that academic success is only one aspect of a young person’s journey. Equally as important is the confidence to speak up, use their initiative, and believe in themselves - skills that will serve them well, long after they leave our school gates.

This week I’ve been inspired by the many ways our learners are developing into confident, capable young people. From taking the lead in assemblies, to debating real-world issues in class, to representing the school at external events, it’s clear that our learners are being prepared not just for exams, but for life.

Our careers and enrichment programmes continue to give learners first-hand experiences of the wider world - whether that’s through employer visits, work experience, or meeting inspirational speakers. Every interaction is a chance to broaden horizons and raise aspirations. Recent projects learners have been involved in include; Asda Futures, Pugata Jewellery design, mock interviews, sustainability work, our Trust’s Batley Business Breakfast event, a Manchester United visit and much more.

We are proud to be shaping thoughtful, resilient young people who are ready to make a positive impact on their communities and beyond. Thank you, as ever, for your continued support in helping us achieve this.
