Careers are an integral part of our School and we have developed an exciting and informative programme that Impacts across all year groups from 7 to 11. Careers is embedded across the school curriculum and each department has a Career champion that attends meetings and develops the initiatives within their department. We measure our success continually against the Gatsby Benchmarks using the compass tool.
As a careers team at UBHS we are extremely proud of our achievements to date and are constantly looking to improve. We have built links with local industry, sixth form providers and Universities enabling our learners’ access to the next steps whether that is apprenticeships or further study at sixth form.
We work closely with parents through the Parent Forum and such events as the Careers Convention where they are invited to attend and have the chance to talk to businesses and a range of educational establishments from the area.
Parents are informed of the LMI (Labour Market Issues) for the Leeds City Region and have the chance to discuss issues with professional staff from C and K Careers from Huddersfield a resource that the school buys into throughout the academic year.
One of the measures we use to assess impact of the careers programme is the yearly destination figures, supplied by C&K. Find the latest information by clicking here.
Rob Crookes is our C&K Careers advisor and is in school every Wednesday and Thursday. If you would like to make an appointment with Rob please contact him on Robert.Crookes@ckcareers.
