Historical Moments

On Saturday 30th May there was a great historical moment when NASA and SpaceX launched a manned rocket from Kennedy Space Centre. NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley were SpaceX's first human passengers. The astronauts were rising inside Crew Dragon, a privately designed spaceship which Elon Musk's rocket company made in part for NASA. The astronauts will reach and dock with the International Space Station. This flight could mark the start of a new age of commercial space flight.

Here at UBHS we have our very own Rocket Club, led by our very own superstar Mrs Dent. If this weekend's launch has caught your eye then email Mrs Dent. Every year a group of UBHS learners take part in a UK wide rocket launching competition, and they do very well! Mrs Dent has led trips to Russia to visit the space city Korolev in the past, and several boys have gone on to careers in this field such as astrophysics, aeronautical engineering, astronomy etc. There are so many different and exciting careers linked to this field of work. What will your future hold for you? It is within your destiny to decide-  Reach for the moon, and even if you miss you'll land amongst the stars.
