Great Get Together
So the week is finally upon us and at UBHS we cannot wait to start the celebrations. The Great Get Together started in 2017 as a moment in Batley where people came together to do something good. Following the events of 2016, people wanted to come together to show unity in our community, to do something positive in memory of Jo Cox our MP, and to build a stronger more positive community feel. People didn't know exactly what to do, but they did something. They came together for a cuppa and a slice of cake (what better way to bring people together in Yorkshire?) and to talk to one another and find out more about each other. The Great Get Together was born. What started as a moment in Batley is now a movement across the world. People take part in Brussels, in New York, in London, in Cambridge, in Dubai- in areas where Jo lived and worked, and also in areas where people were touched by Jo's story. Inspired by Jo and all that she stood for. Jo was an inspirational woman and a true humanitarian. At UBHS we work hard throughout the year, each and every year to build a strong legacy to Jo and to continue the work that she started in our community. We aim to always be the very best version of ourselves each and every day, and to build a strong community. Community makes us, and it is the unity in community that is the most crucial, never more so than now.
