Batley’s Buzz Beats the Bug
Upper Batley High School has had to close its gates for the majority of our learners at 3pm today. However, despite our gates being closed, we are still here for each and every one of our young people. Highly committed school staff will be providing excellent education for our boys throughout the closure period. There has never been a more important time to support each other and be there for one another. We will work hard to avoid anyone in our learning community feeling lonely and isolated. Every day at 11.30am we will release a Thought for the Day on our website. Hopefully this will help keep children, and staff who are having to self-isolate, connected to our whole school community.
Many of our families are facing very challenging times, with uncertainties over employment, health and what the future will hold for them and their loved ones. We know only too well in Batley how our community can unite. We ask everyone to always be the very best version of themselves. It will be those random acts of kindness and compassion that will get us all through these difficult times. As individuals we cannot control all of the things that happen to us, but we can control how we choose to respond to them. In Batley we choose to be kind, be positive, be solution focussed, and to show compassion.
Staff have made a short recording to show our learners that we are thinking of them whilst they are not in school, and reminding them to stay safe.
