The time is always right to do what is right

This is the final Headteacher's Blog of this academic year and a time to thank all our parents, carers and families for their on-going support throughout what has been a very challenging year for everyone. You have risen to every challenge you have faced, be that home schooling during partial school closures, or bubble closures. You have tested yourselves and your family members at home to help keep everyone safe in our community. Some members of our community have faced real adversity through losing jobs, reductions in hours-it has been a hard year for everyone due to the Covid-19 pandemic-however we can, and will get through this and better times lie ahead for us all.

AT UBHS we wanted to finish the term on a high. We held our annual sports day on Thursday last week and the boys were brilliant. Congratulations to all of the medal winners and everyone who took part in the events. We have such immense sporting talent in our school. Our annual summer school runs from Monday 2nd August to Friday 13th August and we look forward to welcoming all our year 6 learners to our school community. Thank you also to the older learners who are helping out over these two weeks.

We achieved the brilliant Gold Award for Mental Health this year and are incredibly proud of this achievement. Over the summer break please look after yourselves, stay safe and look after your emotional well being. Read a book, phone a friend, go out on your bikes and enjoy some fun and fresh air. Make some wonderful memories. UBHS would also like to take this opportunity to thank Gareth Southgate and the England football team for raising the hopes and the spirits of the nation in the Euro 2020 competition. You have been amazing and such great role models for young people. To reach the final for the first time in 55 years is incredible and we know as a team you still have so much more to offer. Well done. We have made this short video to show our support for all of you and to remind everyone that racism has no place in our school community or anywhere. As a great man once said "The time is always right, to do what is right".
